The truth is that the publishing industry has undergone many changes and being a published author is not as difficult as you think. With the advent of print on demand and self-publishing, becoming an author is within your reach. Where print on demand and self-publishing have changed an industry and allowed many new authors to be published, imagine the next wave of technology “The E-Book” okay the e-book is not new, many of us have e-books available in PDF format but that is not what I’m talking about at all!. Technology has had some major changes just like the publishing industry! With those technological advances has emerged the e-book reader. The e-book reader has taken the e-book to a whole other level! Image the business traveler who used to travel with several books who now can travel with hundreds of books on one small e-reader! No need to pay the airline fee for that extra luggage and no need to carry that heavy bag! Combine the self-published author and e-book technology and what do you get? A new stream of income! Your self-published book may not make it to a brick and mortar book store shelf but it can definitely make it to an e-reader platform! According to The International Publishing Forum, in the fourth quarter of 2010, US trade wholesale electronic book sales revenue was $40,700,000 and that is only the United States revenue and only wholesale channels. They say that the retail numbers may be as much as double that amount!
While every self-published author knows that book distribution is critical to getting your book in the hands of the person who wants to BUY it and read it! Every self-published author also knows that Amazon is the #1 place that you want your book available for purchase! While Amazon sales many products including books, last year the #1 best selling product for Amazon was its e-book reader, the Amazon Kindle.
